2009 took us to the beautiful country of Sri Lanka. We arrived in the aftermath of the end of the civil war. Luckily we saw very little evidence of the year long battle. Who we did meet were some unbelievably kind locals, who helped us in many ways. The place of surgery was truly mobile, from outside a postoffice, underneath their bike shed, to the local hospital, next in line came a veranda in a small community, and last but not least a small school building. A truly inspiring place, the Tsunami is fresh in everybody’s mind, but their kindness and resilience was truely inspiring.
